This entertainment center was brought to life out of necessity! I wanted something sharp, modern and symmetrical. When I couldn't find
what I wanted at a store, I built it myself.
I designed this unit specifically for the TV that is sitting on it in this photo. It was meant for different speakers, but the ones
that are on it fit well. The original speakers were nearly the same height as the TV, so the tweeters were parallel to
the center of the screen for correct imaging.
The space below the TV fit the original center speaker perfectly as well as the current center speaker (not present in photo); it is a
rather standard size for theater-in-a-box speakers. The spaces below the right and left speakers hold DVDs very well. The two spaces below are designed to hold standard width
home audio and video equipment.
The unit also has recessed casters, so it sits very low to the floor but can be moved will all of the electronics on it. There are also overhanging edges on the right and left that were meant for mounting some ambient
lighting.
This entertainment center is still a prototype that could be refined and rebuilt.
Key refinements would include multiple coats of black paint and clear gloss with fine sanding between each and the addition of
two casters (increasing the number from three to five).
