Projects Plexicase
Designed and built during the Spring of 2002
The Plexicase is constructed from 3/32" thick Lucite Tuf(R) acrylic. Metal L-brackets and machine screws w/ nuts hold the six walls together. The CD-ROM and power supply, which are almost exacty the same width, provide structual integrity. A hard drive mounting bracket from a steel ATX case is attached to the front wall.
Award-winning design
The Plexicase also uses an award-winning water cooling system built almost entirely from hardware available at Lowes or Home Depot. The CNC-machined aluminum water block was purchased from CPUFX. The tubular radiator provides maximum surface area for heat disapation without massive air flow. The unique, custom design uses a coil of copper tubing within a PVC pipe with an air intake in the front of the case and an exhaust port w/ fan in the rear. The design is so efficient, CPU temperature averages only 10 degrees above room temperature while under heavy use!

This case won second place for best case mod (namely the cooling system) at UVALAN4! (The first place winner was a girl. Nuff said. ;)

Extras include two red and two blue high-intensity LEDs for accent, a kick-ass, ultra-wide, white hard drive activity LED, and red painted components (including red electrical-tape-wrapped IDE cables, not including the gray water reservoir).
